Schertler Bass Active Subwoofer

The BASS subwoofer is the perfect complement to UNICO or DAVID for enhancing the performance of acoustic instruments producing strong bass frequencies such as double bass, acoustic bass guitar, cello, etc. This application activates the low cut feature on the UNICO or DAVID so as to have BASS fully reproduce bass!

Combined with two SIDE or PUB 280 units and thanks to its active stereophonic separation, it provides the proper foundation for your PA system (e.g., the OPERA mixer with two SIDE active loudspeakers and one BASS). The bipolar 200W RMS and the traditional power supply featuring a toroidal transformer ensure a controlled and extremely accurate and powerful bass reproduction.

Thanks to its compact design and efficient circuitry, BASS delivers incredible low end in a very portable package.

  • 200W RMS, active bass subwoofer
  • 1-way
  • 15.5 Kg – 32x36x38 cm

Schertler Side Active Loudspeaker

SIDE has been conceived and developed as an extension for the SCHERTLER UNICO or as a stand-alone active loudspeaker system, using the same high-quality components and circuitry.

From inputs to loudspeakers, all aspects of SIDE were selected for their natural and accurate response. As in UNICO, two power amps with an active crossover supply 150W to the 8″ woofer and 35 watts to the 1″ dome tweeter. The result is velvety, clear harmonics with a controlled, strong low end (down to 40 Hz). The technology of biamplification produces a very transparent sound as well as providing maximum efficiency by properly matching amplifiers to loudspeakers.

Lesson #5: Descending Chordal Device

This month’s lesson is based on Picking Pattern #3 from the Gypsy Picking book. This pattern relies on sweep picking for maximum right hand efficiency.

This lesson uses a variation of Picking Pattern #3 to create a beautiful arpeggiated chordal effect. Django used this device for ending ballads, and it also appears in a number of his unaccompanied guitar pieces (See my book Unaccompanied Django). Just transpose this idea to whatever key you’re playing in, and voila! You have a great ending.

New eBook: Johnny Smith Guitar Interpretations

Johnny Smith was one of the great pioneers of jazz guitar. His impeccable technique, tone, and musical sensibilities set him apart from his peers. One of his great innovations was the development of the chord-melody technique for solo guitar. His beautiful arrangement of “Moonlight in Vermont” is among his most famous performances in this style. His recording titled Legends consists entirely of brilliant unaccompanied chord-melody arrangements.
