    Hi all,
So . . . I am finally attending the "primier" gypsy jazz event in the usa. I will be at the camping, any advice, any thoughts, folks who wanna hang and drink some wine and jam? I am looking foreward to this amazing event, and have bought tickets for everything from friday on, though I will be on whidbey starting on wednesday. I personally am very excited to see norig, sebastien, and mathiue play, as well as hanging with my local 7 string hero, (he lives in NYC), howard alden.
    Cheers,
Hope to hear from some folks.
    Thanks
    Ben

I will be camping at the fest 3 out of the 5 nights. im hoping for good weather. the campsite is good... you could buy a tent somewhere for $40 and then stay there and share someones camp space. (spaces cost money). i think there are showers at the fairground campsite but i haven't used them yet... this year I will try it. does anyone know for sure?

    Djangology,
so, at least one other sucker! I emailed the campsites, there are showers, and she promised "hot", and I am assuming cooking pits at least, other then that, I think thats about it. Anyone know how buggy is whidbey?
I am looking foreward to it!

no, there are not any cooking pits there. the only possibility would be to bring your own portable firepit. Anyone bringing one?

Its looking like Ill arrive Thursday at NOON and leave Sunday afternoon.

the weather looks like it might hold out:

    Djangology,
Would they seriously have a problem with us cooking over a fire- I'd bring a camp stove, but you can't take these things on a plane any more!

Ps. any idea how to get there if we don't rent a car? (there is a shuttle- ever used it?)

There are lots of portlanders driving past the airport on their way to the island. if you need a ride to/from the airport you can probably post on the portland PDXDJAZZ yahoo group that you are looking for a ride. also, of course, there might be people watching this forum that might help. just post the times you come in and the time you go out...

im going up on thursday around NOON and coming back sunday late afternoon and so if that works i could give you a ride... next year you could also fly into Portland and still get a ride to Djangofest...

I suppose that I am still going to camp out, despite the upcoming crappy weather. I hope the weather guy is wrong.

It looks like it might be raining and if it does I might actually not camp out... just mulling over alternatives right now...
