Sold some stuff I haven't been using so I now I am looking to add a Favino style guitar to the collection.
If you have one lying around that you are not using and are looking to sell, please send me a message.
I have an Ivanovski Favino that I would consider letting go of. I’ve had some extra expenses recently, and I probably need a furnace more. Lol Feel free to reach out if you’d like more info.
When did you get that one @mikegnik ?
Sounds like a match made in heaven though.
Shot in the dark, but who's got an actual Favino (i.e. Jacques or Jean-Pierre) they want to sell?
Maybe you know John Garza in Chicago. He has an outstanding Favino he said he might offer for sale. Maybe you can get in touch via FB, if not I can ask him. That guitar sings. Not honky or nasal at all, superb high mids.
I have not met him. If you can reach out that would be great. Thanks!
The 2001 Favino by Jean-Pierre that Michael H. is selling certainly looks and sounds great. https://www.djangobooks.com/Item/jp-favino-oval-hole
Maple neck/cedar top is a really good combo.
I owned a JP Favino Jazz S model in the past, similar to the one offered for sale on this site. It is really more Selmer than traditional big bodied Favino IMO, and with it's smaller body and might not be what the original poster is after. I had a Dell Arte Jimmy Rosenberg years ago that was not a great guitar for Gypsy jazz. I have played a few Favino's with the traditional body size made by both JP and his dad that had a special something. I have yet to play one made by modern luthiers that delivered what the real thing does.
A vintage Favino will be expensive, but may be exactly what the OP is after.
Yup, you pretty much summed it up. Looking for an old school Favino similar to these:
I know the prices are ridiculous and high for these, but I was hoping that a personal sale might be lower. I've got guitars that I might off up for trade for anyone interested.
I know someone selling a Favino, I will link you on fb.. how’s your French?
