The road to this guitar was interesting.
First guitar I received from Risto came delivered by FedEx with neck away from the body, in 2 pieces, total tragedy after about 8 month wait.
This was an interesting guitar too, I asked for a sunburst finish. Risto, the luthier, after I contacted him and told him what happened said he’d start building a new guitar for me immediately. He also let me have my choice of woods, as I could only afford the basic model.
So after another 6 or so agonizing months I finally had my guitar delivered in Jan of ’09.
This guitar is a beautiful instrument, loud and pretty well balanced.
It’s a 5 brace traditional Selmer design although both top and back are arched which I understand isn’t the usual Selmer feature, the arched back
Built with all solid woods; European spruce top, maple back and sides, one piece maple neck and ebony fretboard.
Treble notes pop off the fretboard while bass is tight. Mids are very rounded so in that sense it may not be the most traditional gypsy sounding guitar but it does have that snap and it’s a very versatile instrument.
All in all I feel very lucky to own it.
