Here is a clip of the amazing German Gypsy Wawau Adler. In addition to his mastery of the traditional Django based Gypsy style, Wawau
has assimilated bebop style phrases and repertoire from the likes of
Wes Montgomery and George Benson. His playing is particularly
interesting in that he plays these modern ideas using what appears to
be the traditional Gypsy Picking
technique.

Dudley Hill (1948-2005), guitarist and founding member of Pearl Django, lost his battle with cancer. Dudley had a long career playing bluegrass and swing music. He was particularly well known for his punchy chord melody style and his unwavering sense of swing. Incidentally, he also gave lessons to the great guitar and violin virtuoso Mark O’Conner. He was a man of few words, but his playing was always poignant and heart felt. His passing is a great loss to all of us.
Many Gypsies such as Stochelo and Jimmy Rosenberg use extra light
strings (10-45) but swap the E (10) and B (14) for an 11 and 15. This
gives you a fatter sound on the treble strings while still maintaining
a supple feel on the bass strings.
