It's so nice having these DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup reissues!

I had one installed on my '46 Epi Broadway, and it has pretty much the sound I'd want from that guitar--fat and a bit dark. Interestingly enough, the pickup it replaced is a Rowe-built gold-foil single-coil from the 1960s that I'd had adapted for floating (had its mounting ears cut off). As much as I liked the Rowe, the modern repro sounds better to me. Of course, being 50-ish years younger might help.

We've also similarly modified some Eastman AR805s with a wood pickguard, metal trapeze tailpiece, and DeArmond.

And here's one with a Benedetto pickup:

Man, that AR805 with the DeArmond is beautiful!

Feel free to post any more Eastman mods coming down the pike ;)

I don’t know if party like it’s 1939 is such a good idea...;)

Here's my new Eastman 905CE-BD that I just received yesterday from Djangobooks. I wanted this model , but as an acoustic archtop (it's acoustic sound is so nice). Thank you Michael for the mods and helping me get it where I wanted it!

The modifications included: removing the floating pickup and pickguard, installing an internal K&K Pure Archtop piezo pickup wired to the end-pin jack, moving the 9th fret side dot to the 10th fret (I've gotten used to Gypsy guitars and it makes so much sense), and setting it up with Martin Retro Monel 13 gauge strings.

Here's an AR910CE-SB that we tricked out with a Kent Armstrong Johnny Smith floating pickup and a fingered tailpiece.
