Hi there! I don´t live my passion (well, actually one of my passions) that much, as i haven´t found a single GJ player around here (Portugal). There was a forum member here, but he was dutch and moved back before i could get in touch with him (maybe next time, emile!).

I´m still looking (and learning) though...

and, BTW, great donna lee on your youtube channel! (it was the only one i got time to check out).

    cheers,
    Miguel.

    Edit: and welcome!

    Hi Aurelien,

Do not worry about your English. Much much better than my non-existent French. :?

Welcome! "Living" it is a little difficult unless you count blasting Gypsy tunes in my office throughout the day. I work in a very tech heavy, computer driven industry - quite a different environment than tight crowded bars at night.

I just discovered this wonderful music style a few months ago and have dove right in. I'm going to be soon taking lessons from a wicked Gypsy Jazz guitarist here in the Boston area and hope to find out more about the scene. The Django In June festival is out here this summer where I look forward to meeting a lot of fabulous people and soaking in their knowledge!

I was in Paris for the first time last year and loved it - was very impressed with the city. It impacted me more than I had expected. I thought it was going to be just another large European city but it has a wonderful artistic flavor running through it. Caught a Gypsy 4 piece playing outside a club on, I believe it was Rue Saint-Honoré. They were flying at a light speed tempo!

Look forward to my next visit to your country - hopefully with a bit more gypsy playing skill under my wing.

The first thing I can say is that, anytime I want to play, I find the people to, even the Gipsy stars are easy to meet and play with, here !

    So !
I'm 28, professionnal as a guitar player and teacher for 2 years, my last real job was optician (don't know if it's good english).

A few month before becoming musician, I made my first jam in a well-known jam for guitar, at the styx. I used to play on a kind of Godin guitar, and for the first jam in my life, I played with Sebastien Giniaux ! It was great ! (He took my phone number after :-D )
Now we meet to jam or in concerts.
Well, I was blowen up by the level in Paris ! and I'm still impressed !

Boston, Massachusetts is home to the Berklee School of Music so we are fortunate to have quite a lot of good guitarists in the area. Many many Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Rock guys.

    Now Gyspy Jazz...
If we're speaking about gigging/playing live guitarists (semi pro or pro) - As far as I understand, there are only a handful of Gypsy Jazz guitarists around! Sounds like half a dozen guys or so. Hopefully at least 1 more (me) in the future! :D

Gypsy Jazz seems to have a very small/underground community around here. What are other US cities like? How is Seattly I wonder? Has Michael built the mother ship up there?

Any Boston guys please correct me if I'm off base!

There's a good scene here in Chicago. I maintain a page about it here: http://www.holovaty.com/chicago-gypsy-jazz/

Aurelien, I liked your recent video with Adrien Moignard! And it was great that you decided to dress in the same outfit. ;-)
