Heard back from Oliver re. the Rene Gerome 14 fret at Guitare Village:

The back and top are curved.

The neck is straight, which is quite rare on an old guitar like this one (mahogany neck).

Note that the fingerboard dips slightly toward the soundboard.

The solid spruce top is in good condition and hasn't sunk due to its unique shape (no cracks)

It’s hard to tell what woods were used for the back and sides because of the color.

The sides are flamed, which suggests maple.

    Laminated back and sides.

The frets are in good condition.

The tuners have been replaced with classic nylon models. The repairer probably just had those on hand.

Ideally, the holes should be filled and re-drilled to the correct diameter to install steel pins.

Other than that, this guitar checks all the boxes but doesn’t have much acoustic power.

The sound is dry. It doesn’t have much bass (maple back and sides?).

To estimate shipping costs, we would need a specific address.

Any customs duties will not be included.

    Kind Regards

    Olivier

Fretboard dipping towards the top isn't uncommon and it's certainly a better option than the hump that can happen where it joins the body. As for the not much acoustic power comment, it could very well sound like that to a player but still project really well in a jam. That was exactly what I experienced with the Barault I borrowed from a friend for a while. Some guitars don't give a lot of feedback to the player but are actually perceived as loud in a room with lot of other guitars.

I played one earlier in the year, just like this. The one I played was not stained, but was a beautiful rich golden natural colour of aged spruce and flamed maple. It looked absolutely amazing. It played quite nicely, but the tone and volume were a little disappointing. It would record well in front of a mic. Having said that, I still think about it as it was just so gorgeous.
