Do we have a definite idea of when Django switched to the 14-fret petite bouche Selmer? Always assumed it was c. 1939. Thanks!

    The exact documented date is summer 1937 (Big Apple - Chez Bricktop - Paris) - The guitar was an oval hole Selmer with an experimental rectangular fretboard and not the Selmer oval hole model with the usual semicircular notch cutout (at the end of the fretboard).

    The first oval hole models appeared in 1935 (moreless from nr 400 on) and the standardized oval hole models are dated 1936 on.

    Django will then use most of the times his Selmer Oval Hole nr 503 built in 1940
