Would it be easy to overdub audio and video in real time with Davinci? Like if you were recording rhythm and a solo, could you just do the whole thing within Davinci?
I haven’t tried. But as it’s common to record Voiceover right into davinci, I can’t see it would be a problem really. It’s just ”sound”. It works like a daw (depending on what daw one is used to) more or less.
resolve is free, just try and see if it suits your workflow, it’s a little curve to get into it, and lots of ”tools”, but I learned what i needed (basic stuff) in a day or two.
As great as DR is I would not want to use it as a serious DAW. I have not pushed the audio in it as far as it can go but with a lack of audio grid and lack of audio tools that exist in a pro audio DAW I never saw the reason (I guess one environment but again if things are tempo based w/o a workable grid it is a non starter). If you are on a budget my guess is you can make it work.
Agreed! If one have any daw, it’s more suited to music of course.
But if recordings are made on a zoom or something, might as well record straight into resolve, that Said I haven’t done it, still on pro tools. But I was wery impressed by the audio features and mixer in resolve.
I record the audio separately from the video (at the same time). The audio goes into a DAW (I use Reaper), video to whatever camera I'm using. Mix, tweak and render the audio (usually to a higher bitrate MP3) and import it to the video editor app. Sync audio with video then cut video volume to zero. For editing the video I'm using YouCut app. It's cheap ($15) and does everything I need it for. Here's the example
I didn't know it then but you can soften the edges of PiP windows to get everything merge nicer.
Or in this case I recorded the audio straight to phone, didn't want to fuss too much with the audio but you can change the audio levels between the two videos.

Not for audio only but I would like to do multi tracked audio and video (like the Acapella app)? In a way that isn't a pain in the ass.
If you are doing multi track recording you will be happier (well not as unhappy) using a dedicated DAW.

I want to do a split screen video with synced audio and minimal effects. I don't think I can do the video in a daw?

Thanks Buco, you saved me 5-10 minutes of practice time or whatever else I was going to blow it on.

Apparently even watching others play is still "some" practice.
