I really don't like the Schatten volume controls.

I can't see this model being super helpful. Luthiers sometimes try to build two guitars side by side, as identical as they humanly can and they end up sounding differently. So then how could you expect the change in process that model might suggest that results in certain sound output or tonality in the model, would then translate identically in your build? I just don't see it.

My friend Guiliano has some modeling tools on his website. They are useful. I usually need to screw something up and then go back and use something like this to understand it.

Super cool design innovations on his guitars.

Not GJ but this young lion moved to town and we've become friends. I made this 7 string 3 years ago and no one seemed to get it but Aash already has an Abasi 7 string multi scale. He's really into this guitar. It is funny...if you make a crazy instrument, there is probably someone who will dig it but it might take a while to find them.

    Anyhooo.

He does a lot with Indian ragas on jazz progressions, I've been taking lessons with him and it's been pretty useful.

It sounds fantastic on that recording, of course he's a phenomenal player as well.

Every year I try to not end up having an unfinished guitar a week before Django in June, every year I fail. Oh well.

First redwood top, on Michael Horowitz's recommendation. Seems to test similar to my spruce top guitars but we will see. I had it strung up and played it a bit a couple days ago before I started finishing it and it sounded really good but I make a conscious effort to not pay attention to what it sounds like when I string it up. They usually sound funky and weird and it can be disheartening. This one sounded decent. We will see.

The guitar will def get done but I have all these pickup and mic experiments I want to work on. I think I will get it all done but it will be tight.
