Cheap/Reliable Amps

Hey!

I have been using the Tanglewood T6 amp my entire life for gigs, but recently it's been getting quieter and hasn't had the punch that I've needed for bar gigs and medium sized venues. I wanted to get a henricksen Bud, but they have gotten really expensive. I love that the Bud is 2 channels and can connect to bluetooth. Are there any good, cheap alternatives? I use a peche, and want to get a cs sensor for context on my pickup situation.

Thanks,

Josiah

Before I got my Henriksen Blu 6, I used a (now discontinued) Roland AC-60, which has plenty of power, two channels, decent sound shaping, and lots of I/O. Roland doesn't seem to have anything equivalent in their line any more, but they do seem to show up used. (Which is how I got mine.)

I would still be using the Roland if it weighed as little as the Henriksen, but my ancient shoulders overruled my equally ancient ears.

Boss Katana 100 to me is an amazing value. The modeling amps are great but it also has a power amp input (so no modeling, just a flat amplifier) so you can put anything you want in front of it (IR/NAM thing, amp modeler, HX Stomp, whatever).

Has 3 different power levels so you can use it as a practice amp but also pretty loud. Tons of onboard effects that are apparently the same as Boss pedals and super useful.

At the moment I just run my hx stomp pedalboard into the power amp but I need to work on some presets so I could just plug straight into the amp if I don't want to carry a lot.

Personally for me there is no 2nd choice to this but I don't give a shit about real tubes.

Katana sounds like an amazing value. I don't see how you could go wrong. There are a few on Amazon selling"used - like new" for $400, even under. A lot of times people return stuff as soon as they see the packaging scuffed up, that could be the case here. One video I watched that's demoing it with an acoustic guitar, says it has a dedicated premap with no modeling involved and the guy loved as a pure acoustic amp.

But also try getting your amp serviced. By the sound of it, it might just need capacitors replaced.
