GJ Lutherie stuff for sale on craigslist

I just saw this -- a whole lutherie setup specifically for building gypsy jazz guitars -- https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/msg/d/palo-alto-selmer-maccaferri-guitar-jigs/7913361459.html

All that stuff gives me the fear. All those jigs!!! I recently bought a job lot of backs and sides made by a British luthier, but have yet to build any moulds for the body. Quite daunting when you see what's involved.

Weird I wonder whose stuff it is. Fairly intricate setup.

Don't know. (Could it be Peter Zwinakis?)

Wow that's kinda crazy to see...

    ...

I mean, why would anyone use CL now that the personals are gone??

Craigslist is still moping along, there's stuff on there.

I hate that everything moved to Facebook Marketplace which is super crappy.

I should have used the sarcasm font but agreed, FB marketplace is the worst

$3500. Not a bad price for all that. I expected more. There's a lot of hours in making this stuff.

I think it just shows how much money and effort goes into making one of these instruments. You definitely aren't "going the cheap route" by making your own instrument if it requires $3500 in used gear and equipment only to still have to make the guitar. Much love to our luthier friends out there for doing what they do.

Some of it would be useful. It looks like a pretty trad way of doing things. It might correlate with the Collins book, I don't know.

It is weird stepping into someone else's rig though. Since it's a traditional construction style that makes it a bit more universal but it's a limited amount of people who don't have any Selmer jigs and want to pay $3500 to start.

I'd love to have some extra molds but a lot of it wouldn't do anything for me. Your workflow influences the jigs you would make.
