This weekend there will be a great gypsy jazz festval in Carrboro, North Carolina. Violinist/guitarist Gabriel Pelli has kept this tradition going in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area for years.
There will be great international (including Sinti) performers, as well as workshops and jamming.

Paulus Schafer and 22 year old Sam Farthing are on the bill, this is going to be a good one.
Paulus and Sam playing as the Voyage Hot Club, but other than a quick (Suisse) mention and a small picture, they don't tell you that Eva Slongo will be playing violin. Figured it was her being referred to when I saw Jimmy Grant playing too & confirmed on her website, but would have been nice to give her a name mention on the website at least. She's fantastic!
I should also add that it is fantastic to have all this talent and to have these festivals all over. Jimmy & Sam are both home grown. But having Paulus and Tim K and Eva and Fapy etc travel to the US for a small festival in Oregon or NC or WI would have been unheard of 25 years ago. I remember thinking it a pretty big deal when Robin Nolan came to DFNW in ~2002. Glad to see this style thriving with such great artists. Support them live when you can!
Carrboro's an easy drive (uber?) from Raleigh-Durham Airport. And it's a wonderful university/cultural area.
Are you going, Mike?
Gabe Pelli, who has tirelessly coordinated this event, is on the left.
I wish I could, Buco! I've got 4 gigs in Asheville this week so it looks like I'm staying put.
@pdg Is that one of your guitars he's playing? 😊
Yes, it is.
