FOR SALE: AUTHENTIC GYPSY CAMPER TRAILER – THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND IN THE USA.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npux_M6DiOs
Imported to the USA directly from Europe, this rare and beautiful Gypsy camper trailer is a true cultural artifact. It was acquired by the seller—a European Gypsy Jazz guitarist and well-known antique guitar trader living in Florida—from a member of the renowned Reinhardt Manouche Gypsy family in Germany.
The Reinhardt family lived in this camper since it was custom-ordered from the Tabbert factory in Northern Germany, and it has been kept in pristine condition ever since.
ABOUT THE CAMPER:
Manufactured by Tabbert, a legendary German company known for producing high-quality caravans, this model is a Baronesse—the most luxurious line Tabbert offered during the 1980s and early 2000s. Alongside the Comptesse, the Baronesse became iconic, especially among Roma and Manouche Gypsy families who were experiencing growing prosperity due to the revival of Gypsy Jazz music.
Some rarer Tabbert luxury models also existed, such as the Majestät (only 80 units built), the Imperator, and the Royal. But it was the golden-trimmed, wood-furnished Baronesse that rose to iconic status within the Gypsy community.
This particular unit is the 740 model—one of the longest ever built—second only to the extremely rare 790, which was later discontinued due to its impractical size for Europe’s narrow roads.
A CULTURAL ICON:
From the late 1980s onward, the Tabbert Baronesse and Comptesse became synonymous with "the" Gypsy camper in Europe. Tabbert even began refining their designs to suit the aesthetic preferences of Roma and Manouche families.
This 2002 model represents the final and most refined generation of the Baronesse line. It features upgraded cabinetry, upholstery, and trim, and was among the last units built before Tabbert was acquired and restructured into a company now focused solely on luxury tourist caravans.
CUSTOM FEATURES:
As is typical with Gypsy-owned campers, this Baronesse was custom ordered:
Re-upholstered in genuine white leather by the Reinhardt family.
Decorated with elegant custom draperies and valances, reflecting traditional cultural aesthetics.
Maintained in exceptional condition, both by the original owners and the seller.
IMPORTED AND ADAPTED FOR THE U.S.:
The camper was professionally shipped from Hamburg to Brunswick, GA, cleared through customs, and adapted to meet U.S. DOT regulations:
Gas lines removed, as they could not be certified under U.S. standards.
Electric furnace installed in place of the gas heater.
Electrical system converted from 220V to 110V.
Tail lights updated to U.S. specifications.
12V battery system added, allowing lighting to function both on- and off-grid.
Fridge retained, powered via an included 110/220V transformer and switchable to 12V when towing.
Note: Most Manouche Gypsies traditionally do not cook inside their campers, preferring outdoor cooking under an awning. As such, the kitchen and appliances were seldom used.
WET CELL & INTERIOR:
While Tabbert campers include a "wet cell"—a lined armoire-style bathroom area—the Reinhardt family opted to use it for storage with shelving installed. The original liner remains, making it easy to convert back into a wet cell if desired.
TRAVEL-READY AND FULLY EQUIPPED:
New tires just installed.
Recently driven from Palm Beach, FL to Nashville, TN—tows beautifully.
Camper weighs only 2000kg loaded, and tows smoothly with most American pickup trucks or large sedans (e.g., towed successfully with a Mercedes S500 and a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood).
INCLUDED WITH SALE:
Large summer awning and smaller rain awning (stored under queen bed).
Folding table with 4 aluminum outdoor chairs.
Outdoor kitchen furniture and 2-burner tabletop gas cooker.
Several boxes of spare parts (see photos).
Two 50mm hitch balls (camper hitch is designed for European 50mm standard).
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: DJANGO REINHARDT & GYPSY JAZZ
This camper isn’t just a vehicle—it’s a piece of musical history.
In the 1930s, Belgian-born Manouche Gypsy Django Reinhardt revolutionized jazz guitar despite a tragic accident that left two fingers on his fretting hand crippled. He developed a unique playing style using primarily two fingers, becoming one of the first to solo jazz on guitar. Django toured with jazz greats like Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong, and his legacy lives on in the global "Gypsy Jazz" movement, also known as Jazz Manouche.
Rediscovered in the 1970s, Django’s music provided new opportunities for Gypsy families across Europe, many of whom formed bands and toured the world. Prominent modern descendants include David Reinhardt, Ismael Reinhardt, and the Rosenberg Trio.
Today, Gypsy Jazz is played worldwide, with festivals on every continent. The most famous is held in Samois-sur-Seine, France—where Django spent his final years. This very camper has attended that festival multiple times.
We’ve included photos of European Manouche families camping in similar trailers, as well as documentary images of musicians playing near or inside them.
DON’T MISS THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND OPPORTUNITY:
This is more than just a camper—it's a living artifact, an expression of culture, history, and music.
The only one of its kind in the United States.
Serious inquiries only. Additional photos, video tours, and documentation available upon request.

Thanks!... J-D. Sauser
We should all chip in and make it the Django In June mobile.
It's under $8,000 at the moment, 4 days left to go!
Funny how website is named "bringatrailer" but in this case they'll give you the trailer.
At $12k that's kind of a crazy deal. I didn't realize how low miles the car is. I could live in that thing.
Not certain what to make of this whole thing.
Who is the seller? It says it’s a known European Gypsy jazz guitar player living in Florida.
If you'd ever lived in Florida, it would all be clear🤣
Explain please? Lot of gypsies in Florida?
I assume it is a Tico Rosenberg reference.
