Hey folks, sorry for sharing all the videos we’re making, but I can’t think of a better place to do it. We’re still trying to build up a repertoire of standards from after Django’s death. This time we’ve chosen Duke Pearson, a pianist, composer, and Blue Note producer from the Hard Bop era. We hope you like it and that someone feels inspired to play it!

Nice choice and a great version.
Good to hear João Silva again too - I used to really enjoy hearing him play when he lived in Lisbon.
Very good playing and the phrasing, breaks and dynamics really present the tune well though I'm not familiar with the original Pearson recording. I like it!
Sounds great, what mic are you using on the bass?
Looks like a Sennheiser MD 441-U.
I really enjoyed this. My band used to play another great Duke Pearson tune Idle Moments which works really well in this genre.
HI Jason, the mic is a Sennheiser md 441 vintage but it's pretty similar to the neewest version MD 441 -U.
Yes, Duke Pearson isn’t one of the most well-known musicians, but he has some really great compositions.
Thank you for your comments, in a few days we wil have a new video, this time with a trombone player playing a tune from Hank Mobley, another standard from the hard bop era.
