Expanding GJ Repertoire: Big Bertha (Duke Pearson)

Hey folks, sorry for sharing all the videos we’re making, but I can’t think of a better place to do it. We’re still trying to build up a repertoire of standards from after Django’s death. This time we’ve chosen Duke Pearson, a pianist, composer, and Blue Note producer from the Hard Bop era. We hope you like it and that someone feels inspired to play it!

Nice choice and a great version.

Good to hear João Silva again too - I used to really enjoy hearing him play when he lived in Lisbon.

Very good playing and the phrasing, breaks and dynamics really present the tune well though I'm not familiar with the original Pearson recording. I like it!

Sounds great, what mic are you using on the bass?
