And Larry know how much I liked this guitar. To me, it's one of the very best guitars I played in this genre, no matter the cost. It has a very dark tone, (but as you can hear in the video treble is plenty prominent, and phone recording isn't doing it justice), with possibly the strongest bass I've ever heard, yet very defined. This thing is an amazing guitar.

Yes, 110, he quotes. How did you find his guitar to be? Whats the specs?

With Risto you can specify most of the dimensions. This one, that @lorenzo got, top is solid German spruce, the body is Indian rosewood, the back is laminated with Mahogany, 5 piece Mahogany neck with trussrod.

Mine also has a pilage on soundboard - and a fairly thick ebony fretboard. It arrived setup and ready to play. I do like the sound.

Luthier Romanticism 101 fyi: Gross income *before any expenses* (not including the inevitable hopefully-minimal after-sale support) for 10 (that’s a lot!) $2k builds in a year is $20,000 USD.

Geronimo Mateos aren't much more than that last I looked. They're an even better buy if you can find a used one, I think I paid around $1500 for my Audrey model. I also have a Jazz B that sounds and plays just as well.

I talked to Risto about that last year. He told me he's in a unique situation because the cost of living where he is, in North Macedonia, is low. And at that price he has no problem moving guitars. Aside from his work he makes a bit more from gigging. Which is proportionally paid a lot better in that part of the world than in the States where half the places expect us (semi-pros, no large following) to play for tips. He lives a simple life, when he's not in the shop, he goes fishing, he said he does ok.

Wow, making guitars and fishing in his free time. I think I gonna like the guy and I should consider getting his guitars after all.

     North Macedonia

Length of stay: 90 days visa-free, easily extendable

Why it’s great: Budget-friendly, emerging expat scene, Balkan beauty

Bonus: Very flexible with residency permits and extensions.
