DO NOT MISS~

Co-sponsored by Kraar Associates
It's the Brooklyn Djangology Festival

Mark your calendars and JOIN US for a festival that will celebrate 100 years since the birth of Django Reinhardt, the world's most influential and innovative guitarist of the 20th century. He was a Belgian-born Gypsy who married the influences of Gypsy music with the jazz standards that were popular in his heyday. He did this despite a crippling burn injury to his fretting hand that left him with two extremely disabled fingers. Django has left a legacy of music and followers that has continued to bring joy to the world. He has inspired international gatherings that are affectionately known as Djangofests. At these events some of the world's finest guitarists mingle with guitar-aficionado festival attendees for friendly marathon jam sessions -- beoufs -- that can go all night long.

Here are the dates and some links to the festival performers. PLEASE NOTE THAT TITI BAMBERGER IS COMING IN FROM GERMANY TO HEADLINE THIS EXCITING EVENT! If you are in the metro NYC area and interested in having a special master class with Titi, please contact me at [email protected] ASAP for more information.

Of course, each event will be followed by a good, old-fashioned beouf. So bring your guitar and get ready to jam.

Here is some more info about Titi including a few links:

IMPORTANT NOTE -- In the midst of the mirth-making, we feel obligated to shed light on the plight of the Roma community in Europe today. We will have updates available at our shows, including information on how you can take a leadership role in activism. YOU can help by spreading awareness and communicating our outrage at the treatment of the Roma to our elected officials.

See you there. Be in touch with your questions and comments! Here's the deets:

$20/day & $35 for the 2day. I'll probably hit one of these up.

Looking forward to bringing Hot Club Thing from Chicago to New York for the first time. We're cooking up some arrangements to debut.

Does Titi have any CDs out that he recorded on?

All the after hours jams are at the jalopy- its a great space for it and they are very supportive- so basically after the official program we will turn the sound off, and anyone can jam with whomever . . . Titi has recorded, and I hope he brings some cds (I'm pretty sure he will); most of his stuff is not available in the states from what I could gather.
    See you there!

    Cool!

I'm going to try to make Friday night and I may be able to bring two other players with me...

The real question is, how am I going to be able to stay up that late on a Friday night after a super long day at work?

    Ben,

Is it necessary to purchase tickets in advance? I don't see that as an option on the Jalopy website, but maybe I'm missing something. How many seats are there in the theater?
