What you describe, regarding the neck, sounds like a possible humidity problem.
I also, regrettably, must add to my review that my Manouche D-hole developed a finish crack from the indentation at the the bridge treble foot to the rosette. I refinished the crack (and reworked the bridge) w/o perceptible visual artifacts, but d@-n!, a new guitar shouldn't be this much hassle. Unfortunately, my supposedly-superior AJL has developed some funky delaminations of the sides and back, but that's for another thread.
