I recently bought the D-hole Stimer pickup for my low-action Dupont. The pickup doesn't sit exactly flush with the top of the guitar, and this tiny tilt chokes all high E notes past the 12th fret. Anyone else with this problem? If so, how did you fix it? A little puddy and shims perhaps? It's a bummer that I can't "plug and play" this pick up. That being said, I played it last night through a battery powered Roland Street amp (gain all the way up on one of the amp modeling effects) and it was so much fun. Sustain city! Sounded like a very squiggly L5. Had my Bigtone in the AER for rhythm, and then cranked up through the other amp for solos.
@ Tenor Clef,
I have a ST 51 and had similar slipping issues. Tried the goop and it worked, except when temps rose. So I got a paint stirrer, cut it to fit into the soundhole, placed parallel to the braces that go bout to bout, with about 3/4 inch extra on each side, filed a groove in the center, then clipped the pickup onto the stirrer.........makes positioning where you want in soundhole, a breeze and no slipping..
