Waiting to hear back about the serial number.
I have a photo somewhere of a violinist who, from memory, looks very much like the one in the photo. Not sure I will be able to find it amongst the myriad of photos I have though.

If anyone can bring light to these photos and people in them, it would be you.
I think the violinist could be Leo Slab. He played with Joseph Reinhardt amongst others and had his own groups. Not very good quality photos I'm afraid.

Very cool. Not only that I agree about the violinist but the rhythm guitarist might be the same person (the one with the upside-down Selmer) and bassist too. Thank you!
Agreed. The guy with the upside down guitar player does look the same and he is Djouan Sollero. Don't have a name for the bass player. The lead guitarist in that group is Jacques Montagne who died at the age of 15 in 1942. Lots of claims made about how brilliant he was but we will never know how valid they were. The Montagne group was called The Swingtette de Paris.

I think that bassist might be Jean Storne
You're, of course, the second person I was hoping would catch this and next to Teddy could give these old pictures names and stories. Amazing, thank you both.
Jacques is in the first picture you posted? The one on the left? It's sad that his life was cut so short.
The bass player is Leo's brother Charley Slab (born Slabiak). Leo Slab lived a long time and made a recording with guitarist Phillipe Guigner in southern France sometime in the early 21st century - he passed away in Avignon in 2007. I have that CD but no knowledge of any earlier recordings. That's not to say there aren't any. He was also a pretty good guitarist, or so I was told.
I was wrong about the barge. The seat backs in the foreground and the passage behind the stage indicates some kind of small theatre.
