Hi Djangobooks people,

Huge fan of this corner of the internet. I’ve been a longtime follower and have gleaned a ton of information from the wonderful conversations that take place here. I’ve even planned trips to France based on recommendations shared in this forum. I’ve also purchased too many guitars from Michael 😅

More importantly, I’m lucky to know many of you in person and to call you friends. I’ve been called out on numerous occasions for never posting here, so here I am.

I just wanted to give a shout-out to the Taylor GS Mini as a great travel guitar. I own multiple luthier-made Selmer copies but this guitar gets the most play because I always have it out. It doesn’t sound fully authentic, but it gets the job done, and I can leave it in the car for a few hours without worrying too much. It’s also pretty resistant to baby vomit.

Here it is in action with my medical illustration colleague John Daugherty on mandolin — for those in the know, he plays a Nugget. We got a jam in during one of our conference sessions. He just started learning this repertoire. As you all know, once you start playing this style, regular jams don’t quite cut it anymore, and you have to start indoctrinating everyone you know with the Django fakebook 😂
