I got into that way back in the '90s buying cassettes by Alcino Frazao, Jorge Fuentes early on and later finding Carlos Paredes CDs. Later still I guess my fave is now Luis Guerreiro, but yes I saw Fapy a couple of times in London in the '90s.
Ome time he did not have the Portuguese guitar with him and when they had a break as Fapy had not spoken to the audience all night I asked Dave Kelbie at the bar if Fapy was not playing it tonight to which Fapy who was standing there replied in perfect English that he "had not brought it with him on this tour".
I never understood why he spoke good English but did not talk to the audience but there you are.
I used to go to Portugal a lot when I was living in UK, but now I am in Australia it is not so easy, but yeah, I miss those Fado nights.
