I have an idea what I think he's playing, but I'd like to see what others think the chords are in the last A section to compare.

There's a substitution that he regularly does over those first two chords of Emaj which is like E Ab7 Db-, is that the thing you're talking about? Is there a particular recording you had in mind?

Yes. I'm thinking of the chords on Move, but he does something similar other places. This is what I'm hearing: Emaj9 Ab+7 /D Dbm9 C9 B7b9 (Gb F bass line) Em9 A13 etc.
