@Jangle_Jamie: yes, seeing Eberhard Weber in performance was magic. I had the good fortune to see him a few times in the late 80s with the Jan Garbarek group. A highlight of those shows was always Weber's featured solo. He had a unique sounding bass which projected an ethereal warmth!

Glad you discovered some of these ECM players. I highly recommend Collin Walcott's albums "Grazing Dreams" and "Cloud Dance" and Ralph Towner's "Solstice" albums which also feature Weber and Garbarek. (I could do a whole section on my favourite ECM recordings, so I better stop here!🙂)...cheers Phil

Phil Schaap on WKCR! Thats how I was first exposed, leaving the dial there & listening to him drone on and on because I was probably bored. Then years later I heard Louis Armstrong play on I Gotta Right To Sing The Blues in the college listening library -- & was in literally tears. Jeez. Part of the required listening I had to do for a Music in The US class, taught by Carol Oja. We eventually listened to Monk, Benny Goodman, Bartok, and Ives.
