Has anyone tried to use an OM-sized case for a Selmer-sized guitar? I’m specifically interested in the Visesnut case:
The case says the max lower bout is 15.63”, and my guitar has a 15.75” lower bout. A friend has the dreadnought case and it’s a bit too big.

Visit a store and try whatever OM sized case they might have? That width will work, it's almost certain. But what about the overall length?
Don’t try to confuse me with your logic and common sense! 😂
Lol What's confusing is their website, they put OOO/OO in the model name and they say it's for the dreadnought guitar size in the description. And I could not find any sizing info. Where did you figure out what the width is?
If you click “Download Catalog” it takes you to a file with all the dimensions:

I actually did do that but ended up not looking at it. On paper it looks like it could fit. Lower bout is a touch narrower but with the cushioning it could be just snug. I often wondered about this myself but the extra space in the dreadnought case doesn't bother me so I never explored it further. Classical case definitely doesn't fit, I tried that. Lower bout is too narrow. Still I think going to a place that stocks higher end, 000 Martins, which come with the case included and asking for a test fit would be the easiest.
I have a mono dreadnought case...not really a loose fit on a Selmer.
@paulmcevoy75 - did you use the Mono to fly with your guitar to Paris? I know some people here will chance flying with a guitar in a gig bag, but there is always that risk that it’s going to have to get checked.
I did. I've always used a mono case. I don't fly a lot but I've gotten it onboard almost every time. Mostly it's been transatlantic so the planes are big. I've gone Portland Maine to Chicago on a smaller plane without any problem.
I do go to the gate before boarding begins, I put on my really sad serious face and I say I have a handmade guitar with me and can I board early so I can find a place to put it and pretty much every time they are like sure.
Once going from BWI to Paris they rerouted us and I had to take a tiny jet to JFK and that time they hate checked it. I made my very sad face with the guy and he said he would put it somewhere very carefully. It survived but I was shitting myself.
I'm still working on a travel guitar idea but I haven't done it yet. All my guitars are travel guitars more or less because the neck comes out super easy but the Selmer body is bigger than a standard carryon.
That’s definitely the nicest situation when it works out! Then once you are at your destination you can carry around that nice gig bag. Rather than work on the travel guitar you need to work on a nice, lightweight flight case that is built for these guitars! The AJL looks amazing but you can’t buy them separately. I know some people are using the BAM case but I’m not sure I’d trust it if you had to check it.
Hate check is a good typo.
Olli told me he doesn't ask about boarding early...he just goes.
