Does La Chope des Puces still have GJ players at the weekend?

Last time I was there I saw the excellent Stephen Reinhardt Trio, that was in June 2023, and Sylvie was still at the bar, but I just read the post below which claims "la Chope des Puces has changed ownership and the idiot that currently owns it no longer allows these jams." I can't find a date for that post and as I am heading back to Paris this week I wondered if it is true.

I know I did read a couple of years ago that Ninine Garcia had some falling out and no longer plays there, but has anyone been recently and can confirm or otherwise what happens there now.

Thanks

Oh, just remembered, Olli posted this a few days ago

I think this is from the last year, at least according to the poster behind them, but it says in the video description that he's going to be there next week.

Ok good. I will wander over and have a look anyway. They always had some of that good, strong, Belgian beer but I will check it out. Hopefully Sylvie is still serving, I can't see why anyone would change a winning format. It is not like it is very valuable real estate and in a shabby street, the only people who would want to go there are those of us who like the music. Without that I can't see them getting much customer business.

Also I have noted Olli is at Chez Georges next Tuesday, an easy walk from where I stay in Montparnasse, so I will definitely catch that.

So with Romain Vuillemin at Belleville on Thursday (hope my flights are not delayed) and Stochelo at the Sunrise club next Wednesday I think my week will be looking good,

I will report back on what is happening at La Chope when I return.

They had music the last two weekends I was there. I think Saturday and Sunday. No changes.

Daniel John Martin has a session Thursday nights at Le Saint Jean, he has a different guest guitarist every week. Look him up on Instagram. It's in Montparnasse I think.

If you haven't, you should cross the street into the flea market. It's my favorite thing to do in Paris. The ones on that street are pretty high end. If you go passed Chopes and make a left it is more dodgy but interesting. I keep my hand on my wallet and phone the whole time but I love it.

Whenever I am there I wonder who is decorating their homes with all this Louis XVI furniture.

Haha yeah, it's like 2 minutes from Chopes De Puices in the big mall. I can't remember if the door has ever been open so you could go inside.

That whole area is wild. You have seemingly high end art dealers (high end ish anyway) and 1 block away is counterfeit Canada Goose jackets on the street.

So just by luck the following text from Sylvie showed up on my Facebook account:

"This weekend Là Chope Des Puces will be 2 days Violin

with Mario Don't forget Ezeckiel Krief and Steven Reinhardt guitar

Saturday, October 18th from 12:30 to 7:00 pm In the evening it's the Master Angelo Debarre who will continue with his guests from 20:30

On Sunday, October 19th we find Dausson Reinhardt to accompany Steven and Mario

The big room will be partying with Roby Garcia and Benson Garcia on guitar

, descendants of Mondine Garcia Their Father Mundine Garcia will be pleased to come and play some notes

    For your reservations at 0615954251"

    So that answered my question.

And yes Paul, I have wasted many happy hours wandering the markets, there is so much up and down the many alleys as well as the big indoor mall you can never see it all. Anyway, this time I am only going for a week and travelling light with just a small carry on, so I will resist the temptation to buy anything to bring home.

I've never purchased anything. 2 years running there was some cool Le Cruset cast iron pots in an interesting shape but I couldn't justify taking it on the plane.

If you're there on Sunday definitely go to Monk for the Brunard Connexion. Everyone seems to end up there around 1130pm.
