Both fair priced for the European market. The first, and here is my guess, has the soundhole and neck/headstock of a Di Mauro but could also be from Castelluccia, the shape of the cutaway does not look Di Mauro to me. The round soundhole will go against purist's tastes though. The Di Mauro Boogie Woogie looks right and is priced right. Getting them bought and shipped from Portugal is another matter. Nice finds though, good to see there are more out there.

I know you have said in the past that shipping to Australia was expensive. I think recent changes to US import fees (removal of de minimis, etc) has resulted in many European postal services to suspend delivery service here. This is a guitar anyway, so would likely require DHL or another private shipper anyhow. But I wonder how that will affect guitar sales from Europe to the US.

As for the round hole, I think it is interesting that what is the most common soundhole in any other style is seen as off-putting here. Case in point, this round hole Di Mauro guitar that I've seen on Reverb for several years (listing says it is 6 years old with no offers). Not sure if it is anyone's here, but it would seem that someone somewhere might be interested in these round holes.

It seems the hierarchy is something like this:

    Petite bouche? #1 seller!

D-hole? Next in line and sure to stand out.

Bean hole? Oooo, you've got a little panache.

Corazon (Heart?) Great investment sure to go up in value.

Round hole? Hey, someone tell the folkie to get out of the jam. 😂

That's a lot of money for what is really a very basic guitar. It could sound great of course, but there are some amazing contemporary handmade guitars out there for that amount.

I love my Boogie Woogie - it sounds fantastic!! ...it's just that short chunky neck - I just can't get on with it. Maybe I should have a go at taking some wood off the neck, but I don't want to risk weakening it and having the strings pull the neck up. Maybe 2mm would be ok? I reckon it could make a big difference. In fact, I've just talked myself into it!! I'll report back.

Yup and I just learned all to well about this after Nick Sansone was unable to ship my custom "Duved" pick I had him make without the thumb groove - the funniest part is it's US Customs who has stated they have no direction on how to process orders and given the current government, no one should be shocked by that at all.

What really sucks is I have a guitar being built for me in France that's supposed to be finished in October -- will I be able to ship it?? Who knows! Apparently, that's the fun new game for us in the good ol' US of A rn...hooray.

Anyway, sorry for the thread drift.

I had several Di Mauros down the years and also found I could not get comfortable with the neck shape, too narrow across the fingerboard and too thick in profile. I also considered some neck surgery, yes the latter problem could be fixed although I would have wanted to fit carbon reinforcing rods too, but that would not fix the narrow width so I just sold them on to people who hopefully could play them. And of them all I guess I got on best with the Boogie Woogie which was fine for what a short scale can do. Yes, you may say the round hole model is "a lot of money" but I was factoring in just the perceived value of a name like Di Mauro or Castulluccia, so yes, a guitar with no name, however nice it may be, does not get much interest with the majority who like the bragging rights of given luthier's label so it may well go for peanuts anyway.
