Just heard Duved Dunayevski for the first time and holy hell, he sounds so like Django

His playing aside, which is amazing, his recordings just sounded so like Django but in a higher fidelity to me. His tone is just there. I've always thought that Django's tone is quite a bit more metalic than most of the modern players, but then I attribute that to the recording technology. Now I'm not sure. Is Duved getting that sound through his technique, his guitar, his recording method? There's that pinginess that he has that's similar to old Django records that most modern players don't have if you all know what I'm talking about.

First time I saw him I remember there were grown men with tears in their eyes because he sounds so like Django - but in an authentic way.

Its worth saying that Duved prefers to play without amplification even in a large hall and that really makes a difference

Anyone know what guitar does he play?

He has a Selmer now, and he uses 5mm "PEEK" picks make by Nick Sansone, I think. Nick said it takes that thickness to get the tone.
