Sorry Tom, tariffs are good for no one. I learned that in 2 different college economics programs. It seems counter intuitive, but even if a country imposes a tariff on you, your general welfare is still better by not retaliating. But we are all apes, so we respond like apes. If only we could be more like bonobos. At least they can keep time.
The United States first used tariffs as a tool for raising revenue and protecting domestic industries. "Economy has a nationality" as the saying goes. Having had earned a few degrees and experiencing "higher education" unfortunately what has been taught in colleges in the past 60 years, is far removed from reality, like being apes for one 😁
