Tchavolo Licks

anyone care to take a stab at explaining Tchavolo's approach? I was watching the "Swing" DVD of Tony Gatliff's film...the short solo piece by Tchavolo in the restaurant where he starts to speed up...he uses a typical Tchavolo repeated fast phrase/lick pattern...anyone know the fingering for that..as he uses it often elsewhere?

Cheers

Phil

Don't know that one but I love this one from the film 'Latcho Drom' - it's the opening to the solo he plays on Tchavolo Swing...

    --------------------------0--3--2--1--3--1-
    -----------------------2---------------------
    --------------------2------------------------
    -0-----0---2---3----------------------------
    ----4----------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------
    -3--0------------------------------------
    --------2---0----------------------------
    -----------------3---0-------------------
    --------------------------2---0-------0-
    -----------------------------------1--1--

Love those open string runs - played with great intensity!

The piece is titled Arc-en-ciel (I believe it's from Romane originally) and there's a transcription (which I found on another forum) here:

You should be able to find your licks in there.

This song is credited to Tchavolo and Mandino ... and I would suggest listening to Romane's "version" again.

My ear isn't perfect. Can anyone tell me what they think the chords are to Tchavalos "Intro" to All Of Me ?

Here's a cool pdf file from the UK forum (many many thanks to the author, Martijn Schutten)
