telecaster is the way to go...isn't it better to play something totally different? It's like some F1 drivers don't like driving in simulators because they don't experience the same sensations they would from driving a real car so the feedback is different.
Play a telecaster through a headphone amp and you can have a totally different experience but still have your hands on a guitar. Then when you pick up your Selmer you can have the full gypsy picking experience.
Just saying.

Yes, and if you are traveling you can do the Julian Lage/Bill Frisell/Danny Gatton approach of just unbolting the neck from the body and throwing it in a backpack!
not the cheapest (you can get a decent electric in a tele style for well under $200, especially Donner brand) but it has a longish, 25.5" scale and a wider neck so more in a ballpark with our guitars and I think nylon strings are better for a reststroke picking feel.

@Lango-Django: maybe this will calm the waves of indignation raging in the chests of banjo players somewhere:

Damn, I gotta get me one of these to save my marriage!
Thanks, Willie!

@Willie That video reminds me of a segment in this song...I've cued it up 😁
Whatever you heard about it is greatly inflated. I wouldn't worry, nothing can replicate the sweet rattle.
No longer interested in buying a silent guitar, but here is a really budget one:
Always good to practice on your main guitar. Oh...and it doesn’t cost a dime.

Talking about tele style body, recently a friend locally was asking about silent guitar also. I was searching and saw this
