If your tastes run to a modern guitar jazz fusion, you'll be aware of the incredible young guitarist from Palermo in Sicily.
Check out some of his newer videos, his right hand technique is unique ( and perhaps not particularly usable in gypsy jazz )

This right hand style is not unique but it's certainly rare, Sandro Lorier for example plays with a similar technique- see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k-Uany-5QE

nicely spotted, Wim, lots of similarities to Bireli's solo, which I assume Matteo has been studying.
