In terms of warmth, I guess it's difficult to beat the dunlop 1.5 using the round end? Cf the 'sideways' thread.
I personally loved it the first time I tried, and stuck to it ever since (it's been 3y now). I started with the wegen like you, with many others in between.
But I agree with @jazzaferri, you have to go through the process of buiding your own pick wisdom. You may end up in the same place in the end, but you can only truly detach yourself from that kind of gear obsession by getting lost in it for a while...
Yeah, what Jay said about round tip versus pointier tip For every pick someone gave a thumbs up here on the forum, someone else gave it a thumbs down. There are maybe hundreds of pages discussing picks on this forum but this is one of the latest ones and actually has a lot of good thought: http://www.djangobooks.com/forum/discussion/13633/sideways/p1
A lot of the pro guys out there use those Dunlops mentioned in the thread using round tip and get warmer tone and better attack. I'll second what Jay said about blue chip, I use SR60 and swear by it but yeah there's a sticker shock and it may not be what you're looking for. Bot both Michael here and blue chip people have pretty musician friendly return policy and as long as you do your homework first but what you order still doesn't hit home you can swap for something else or return it.
Also I know a local player who was former owner of your Nomade and heard him in jams many times and this guitar never striked me as brash or harsh, solo or rhythm. Just look for that sweet spot.
I should say I actually didn't buy the one I posted earlier. I bought the one listed here from Michael.
I don't think its harsh sounding at all , I'm just trying to fine tune it a little bit. I love the tone of the guitar. A guitar is what it is, you can get subtle changes with picks, strings, and technique but if I didn't like the sound already I wouldn't even bother with different picks etc
Like @Buco said, I'm actually back to starting point with Wegen 3.5. I used the Dunlops on Mando for years and tried them (and others) on GJ guitar, but find them lacking in volume and speed. Overall sound is nice for rhythm but there seems to be more friction and resistance than the Wegens when soloing. My original one has worn to a nice rounded shape.
