I was fortunate to study with Fapy Lafertin for a year. He is a master of the Gypsy jazz style, but also is skilled in playing straight ahead jazz, baroque, and Portuguese Fado. A transcription of the main theme to Reverie appears in my book Unaccompanied Django as Etude #3.
This video displays his mastery of Django’s music. Watch his right hand closely for a classic example of the Gypsy Picking technique.
