    Hey Hugh,

I'm not exactly sure this is what you mean, but in my book, everything is attributed to a chord/arpeggio shape. I have a full section that goes over what I call an arpeggio etude in every position of the guitar over a song. Then in the gypsy style phase section, each phrase is categorized based on it's corresponding arpeggio shape. I also offer a few phrase etudes, which is basically a solo written out over a certain song, and above every few measures there is an arpeggio diagram letting you know which shape the phrase in the measure is played over.

    Anthony,

Thanks for the response. That is exactly what i'm talking about. Just being able to take detailed phrases and then reference them back to the stripped down basic arpeggio will be extremely help for me. Sometimes there are so many extra ornaments and chromatic notes being played in phrases that I can't even identify what arpeggio or scale people are even playing. Looking forward to your release, the book sounds exactly like what I need right now. Cheers.
  • This is exactly what helps many people understand how phrases work and how to create their own. I'm interested to see it at DiJ.

Help me pick a cover for the book ! check out these options - Keep in mind that the inside of the book has a bit of a comic book feel. My wife likes the one with the black and white headstock of django's guitar on it.

Yeah I see both sides of it. I wish I could make the image in version 1 more clear, while still having that black and white "trace" effect. Sadly, I'm not a design expert.

There was a thing going on for a while in the jazz chart world and charts were written using the hand notation font in Finale or Sibelius. For a good reader they are no problem, BUT for those who are not fluent readers or including more mature players in their target market, big easy to read fonts are the ticket. LOL

Best of Luck with your project.

Here is the cover I'm going with... It's the format of 6, but with a few changes.
