  The sun isn't the problem, although it won't do it any good. It's the heat obviously. Definitely try to keep it cool if possible. Look for a shady spot. Plus hard to stay in tune in the direct sun.

  I was keeping a Gitane by the patio door where I had easy access. The California sun shone on the back of the guitar every morning. It brightened the back finish except for a swath up the middle where the stand shaded it. Needless to say, my guitar now lives behind the couch where it sees very little sun.

  I used to play my Holo outside on the beach all the time. The top got a little lighter in color instead of darker as they usually do with age, other than that it's fine. Try to keep it out of direct sun and don't be afraid to play ouside, this music was born and meant to be played under the stars by the campfire!

  The UV will age the finish. Any kind of heat can cause problems (direct sun, inside a locked car, near a wall or floor furnace, etc.). Just avoid extremes of temp or humidity (damp or dry).

  In addition to direct sunlight, a change of humidity is a big problem for acoustic guitars, here in Malaysia its about 60-70%. Took quite a while for mine to settle down and had to do some work to it. If I were to take it to Europe, it would start drying out and that needs to be controlled. Having said that, mine is outside a lot, especially at pool party jams

  not playing your guitar on a sunny day at the edge of the Seine, is like not driving your car to keep the mileage down for resale value, or not sleeping with your wife/girlfriend to make her more desirable for the next man .. that's crazy
