Can anyone explain the forum structure here, after reading the challenges I have logging in:
I seem to be unable to log directly into the Djangobooks site, and I assume I am attempting forum access there, not another option. After a few tries (I get the feeling I have no password assigned but the user name seems like it's in the system), I select one of the options that looks something like (I can't see the wording at this level-I made it in to be able to type this question) login with your djangobooks membership. Whatever the exact name is, it takes me to a login page with a Wordpress icon. I can log in here fine, and even with a wrong password (I change it periodically) it tells me password is wrong...this is even more reassuring than the vague confidence I have an account but no password assigned yet at that first access point.
I hope this makes sense enough to recognize whether I was attempting login elsewhere, like a classifieds area...no idea.
Once logged in, I can see my account details on the right, but my username appears twice. When I added an 'avatar' and signature, either username appearing under my account details brings up that avatar. I wouldn't think it's possible to create two accounts with the same name.
Any idea what I'm doing that I'm making a mess of logging in? It typically takes me a few attempts to get to the Wordpress login page.
I'm not generally this 'challenged' with online things, but I think there is a fork in the road somewhere and I'm taking the wrong one...

At that other point where I can edit my account settings and see two lines with the same name and avatar, I think only one of them shows the 4-icon toolbar, and IIRC, the other has no icons. Clicking on either one brings up the same avatar.
Maybe this forum shows some kind of schematic of where you are in the forum structure, or I'm thinking to hard about this.

First off, there are two separate account systems. One for the store (see store login in the page header) and the login for the forum (in the side bar.) currently these are independent of each other but will eventually be linked so one login will sign you into both.
The forum has multiple ways to login: regular user name and pw, Facebook, Twitter, and also via a wordpress account if you have one setup via our blog.
The simplest thing to do is just register a regular account and always signin that way. Obviously you've found a way to sign in so you can keep using whichever method works for you.

Apparently I have a Wordpress acct., I believe from attempting to set up a web page elsewhere, so I am accessing the DjangoBooks forum through whatever the term is for the ease-of-access 3rd party account login linking method.
So I'm just lucky this works through the Wordpress convenience-linking method. I ought to figure out what I have not completed or what is wrong with my DB acct. I rarely use my WP acct. Depending on it for access here I am pretty sure will maintain my confusion.
I'll go see if I can figure out what I have entered here and what might be incomplete, before I ask more questions.
