  I like them. I have owned a Godin 5th Ave for several years.. excellent guitar.
  
  Change the bridge if it is that black plastic abomination. Get a rosewood replacement from Stew Mac and FIT it to the top.

  I like my 5th Ave, too (Stuart, it's the one you heard when we jammed at my place). Played great right out of the box, solidly built, beautiful finish (sunburst), sweet tone from the P90 pickups. And you can't beat the price.

  I played a couple at Dusty Strings last week. They are made in Canada, all cherry laminate, so they are not carved like an Eastman or old L-5 or even "The Loar". Nice sound, not as much volume as a GJ guitar.

  I tried the Godin 5th Ave. Kingpin today and this specific guitar didn't have the magic. Although it was described as "immaculate" it wasn't. The guitar needed a serious setup and had a couple of dings but seemed to lack a solid feel. It was more like an entry level guitar and even though my Gitane DG-255 might also be an entry level GJ model, the Gitane feels like a much better guitar. I passed it up even at $200.
