Yeah, unwound g probably factored into the tone (although that bend he did with it was pretty badass lol). I also thought they didn't have enough gain on the guitar mic and it looked to be somewhat out of position as well - should have ideally been a bit closer and centered more towards the sound hole (looks like it's angled more towards the neck, imo). Of course, in their defense, the sound person probably never had to mic a GJ guitar before and probably didn't realize how much more directional the output is compared to a flat top.
I've been a fan ever since he posted here on the forum about his album, Ninick. I kinda remember thinking how awesome it is that we have these top worlds players just come to post and hang out. After that I went down the rabbit hole of whatever was out there with him at the time. He's just over the top amazing player. I dropped hints to Andrew to consider bringing him to come to Django in June. My playing owes more to him than anyone else, I'm pretty sure. Several "pathways" in my playing came from him. Just about anything he plays speaks to me. Perfect combination of modern, virtuosic, melodic, with a fluid tone that I like, it's all there. I was so happy to see him selling out shows with both his Peter and Django projects...

I think plain strings are plain strings tbh. I don't think the brand matters a ton.
I don't usually get this way and I'm trying to have just a few swiss army knife guitars but it made me want to get some variety of Les Paul shaped object with some Peter Green variety of fucked up humbuckers. Seems kinda fun. I really like out of phase sounds, got that from Khruangbin.

Yeah I think a plain 10 is a plain 10. If he's using an unwound G that's def different but I don't think the brand matters much for plain strings.
I could be wrong.
I used daddario steel singles for the top strings for a while. I didn't notice a difference in quality of sound.
