Merci!

A couple ideas for you. Try searching on Secondhandsongs.com for the song to see what artists have done it. If there are versions in French, they are typically noted. Then you might search for videos or lyrics by those artists? Perhaps go to Discogs.com to see if they have images of the album/cd liner notes that you can read?
For instance, for Pres de Vous, I found that Orkest Polytour recorded an album with Django songs and lyrics. Secondhandsongs notes that the lyrics were by Valaire, but They have a section on their site for Lyrics, but I didn't find anything attached. However, you might be able to write to them? Maybe purchase their record with the song you are looking for?

If you find them, let me know! I'd be interested in reading the French lyrics.
thanks so much Billyshakes.
I have done similar research and, although I have found the names of several French lyricists, I rarely find the texts. I too found the recording of Près de Vous by Orkest Polytour on YouTube, but the pronunciation of the lyrics is not very clear and I am afraid that my French is not up to the task to decipher them.
It would be fabulous to buy the CD's or buy up old sheet music, but as I am compiling a whole stack of translations, I am afraid it would become a tad expensive... I'd be happy to share what I have found so far, if there is a platform somewhere for French lyrics.
