Django In The Bay festival UK

Back from my first Django festival since Samois 2004 (far too long!!).
What an amazing experience. Six very high quality concerts over three days, jam sessions all over the place and a wonderful atmosphere. I met people I'd heard about but never had the pleasure. I got to jam with Adrien Marco!! I learnt a couple of new songs. I did a 2 hour workshop with Amati Schmitt. I'm inspired. I'm partly out of my depth, but also feel like I may improve with a bit of focus.
I took my Gitane 270 Andy MacKenzie guitar and had some nice comments about it, even from the luthiers. I met Killy Nonis, Robert Ford, Marek Homola and Jerome Duffell - legends in guitar making, and played their guitars (I could have bought one from each of them!!!!).
I jammed a bit (not enough) with all sorts of lovely people - great players.
The Amati Schmitt All Stars were absolutely wonderful - immaculate playing from all, but also completely heart-felt music with soul and passion.
A festival I most definitely will return to next year, and every year I'm sure.

Glad you had a great time. I've had my eye on that quality festival for a while and would love to attend sometime. Great photos...please can you identify the musicians...I recognize a few folk...Angelo and Mathieu Chatelain?

Yes, there's the Adrien Marco trio with Mathieu and Pete Thomas on bass, Debi Botos and Roby Lakatos (my goodness, what a show), Fanou Torracinta (with Adrien Tarrega and Edouard Pennes, and a superb pianist who was amazing!!!), Angelo Debarre, playing one of the new Selmers. Joe Webb on Piano and Giacomo Smith on Clarinet, with Ducato Piotrowski on guitar. Amati Scmitt and his All Stars made everyone stop and stare - absolutely beautiful. All four musicians were totally switched on and immersed. The bass of Roland Grob was as good as it gets. The audience were spellbound. I heard stalwarts of the gypsy jazz festival scene saying that was the best concert they'd ever seen in thirty-odd years.
Wow!! Sounds amazing! I was fortunate to have been at L'espirit Manouche festival in 2003 which was the highlight festival for me...so far!

It was a great event. A couple of other great luthiers were there - Alex Bishop (I think that’s home with his back to the camera in the 11th photo) and John le Voi. Jerome is on the far left in the fifth photo. Thanks for sharing!
Yes Alex and John were both there, though I didn't end up playing their guitars (I did jam with Alex though). I did play a very nice John Le Voi F hole in Inverness a couple of weeks ago. Mmmmm!!!
