Camping in Samoreau for the Django Festival

Hi everyone, I’m able to tack onto a work trip and attend the festival in Fontainebleau for the first time. I had booked an Airbnb in Fontainebleau and they just cancelled on me. I see most of the good accommodations are now booked. I understand that most of the action is in the Samoreau campground. How are people from the US camping there? Are you carrying tents and sleeping bags from the US, are you renting a car and sleeping in the car, are there some other accommodations? What about showers and things like that? I’m a bit perplexed about how to make this all work internationally! I understand that some people just show up with cash and make it work somehow, I’m just trying to understand more.

@flaco If you can- I'd just bring a tent and a sleeping bag. and earplugs if you are sensitive to noise while trying to sleep. Try to reserve in advance if you can. There is a link somewhere here with the email to the camping. You can get there pretty easy on the RER, and a bit of a hike from the train. There are showers there for sure, and usually pretty ok as far as that goes - showers and bathrooms are part of the deal there. I have always just camped. But I am pretty easy about all of that & Don't mind camping.

There was a rather excellent Patisserie right near the camping - but they are not open on Sunday. There was also a Carfour in walking distance.

Bon Chance! Wish I could go! Next year man.

Thanks! I'm probably overcomplicating this. If this was a dedicated trip just for the festival I could optimize my packing and plan for the camping. Since it's tied into a work trip I will have all my business clothes, my work laptop, etc., and I worry about the security of leaving that stuff in my tent. Then I will have 3 other flights for work where I would have to be dragging along my guitar and camping equipment. I guess it makes the most sense to try again with another airbnb for this trip and hope they don't cancel. Then once I'm able to see how it all works I'll be better prepared for the future trips.

You could be like Django and show up without a guitar.

Ha ha! In all seriousness, I considered buying a cheap tent there and then just donating it somewhere when I left. I'm not sure what it's like in France, but you can find things like that in the US for $30-50.

Last year i bought one for about 25€ at some supermarket at the route because i was mainly worried about how to keep the beers cool and forgot that to have a tent also might be a very good idea.
