Obviously, there's something completely different between a trailblazing group, which creates an entirely new sound, and a later group which works at (and largely succeeds in) capturing the gist of the former group (with limitations as well as modest innovations).

Seems like the current HCF (whatever or whoever it is at the moment) just wants a fair replication of the original sound and isn't interested in creative genius or breaking new musical ground.

The comparison with we're the Beatles now is hilarious 😄

Was the group with Babik (NQHCF) affiliated with the Hot Club at all? I also can't find any mention about it on HCF website.

@DoubleWhisky Very much agree there is an influence there. He's using jazz language that is typical to Django and the Hot Club style that isn't normally part of his pop/rock/blues repetoire that came later. Les was clearly influenced by Django and he is on record of having said so. Even his Wiki page offers this recording of "Body and Soul" as displaying his admiration for Django. I hear what they are saying, but not nearly as strong as in your recording.

How do you know that Duved pushed to be named this? This could have been an offer from the HCF, and if so, it would be a great honor that would be hard to turn down.

There would be no dishonor in turning it down. Indeed it would have been the smart thing to do.

Let me, @flaco, turn the question back on you: how do you know he didn't push for it?

I guess I’m assuming the best! I don’t see how it would have been the smart thing to turn down.

Ahh, what's a discussion without a little controversy among friends...

I found a mention of it on the Hot Club site. It seems to be some kind of dynamic page (I don't really know how some of these things work) so it could be it's going to get pushed out at some point. Right now it's around the middle of the page or you can search the page for Duved

I'm promising myself this is the LAST time I whack the hornets' nest on this site. 🤐

    I appreciate you kicking the hornet's nest 🍿 😁

Buco- the prose currently found on that page is the same Salle Cortot gig ad I mentioned earlier. It's not an official word on the matter and may have been written by a promoter or band member themselves. I'd be interested to hear what the HCF president said on Dec 14th, wonder if there is video or transcript anywhere.
