I had not heard f holed Gypsy guitars are louder. Interesting.

Yeah ideally I want the CC pickup permanently on it. But still loud acoustically.

This shopis is what I'd like. I'm wondering if Tremblay would do something like that.

no, but it sits very well in the mix and provides some contrast to gypsy guitars. It more than holds its own, cuts through very well, and can be pretty loud, too...

That Shopis is one of the prettiest guitars I've ever seen but I don't think that one is going to be counted among the loud ones in a jam. There was some discussion about it on the forum. Cholet makes a similar model. I played the Cholet one, amazingly nice to play and so beautiful. Not very loud but it's still an acoustic instrument, it definitely wasn't quiet.

You can never generalize anything but if feels like when the f-hole design in this style is talked about, it's often followed with how loud they are. Like everything else, I'm sure the opposite can be true as well. As well as I'm sure Tremblay can make anything with six strings. If you already have a couple of guitars you're happy with, then go with what you have in mind.

I’m not sure if it was that exact one, but I’ve played a Shopis that looked exactly like that and it wasn’t loud enough for an all acoustic jam. It was a super cool guitar, though!!

I don’t think the F holes had anything to do with the lack of volume. I think it was all due to the pickup mounted in the top.

I have 3 GJ guitars, a Cigano GJ-10, an Altamira M01F and a DuPont MD-100. I really enjoy all of my guitars and truth be told, I play the Cigano more than the others. The Cigano pretty much lives on the stand within easy reach. It doesn't seem to have the flaws of my other inexpensive guitars that were purchased when I first started playing GJ, echos, lack of volume, etc. They included a Gitane DG-255 and a Paris Swing, long since sold.

The Altamira M01F is a beautiful guitar and is the loudest of the 3. It may not be the most authentic sounding GJ guitar, but as I always say, authentic is in the hands of the player. https://www.djangobooks.com/forum/discussion/19589/2017-altamira-m01f#latest

The Dupont MD-100 is an all around great guitar, feels good in the hands, sounds good, looks good, and has nice volume. There were two MD-100s available when I bought mine, and I asked for the one that has more of the Gonzalo Bergara sound. I think they picked the right one. I'll try to post a sound file some day.
