Hi there. I’m interested in finding an original non- converted Eddie Freeman Special (long scale tenor made by Selmer-Maccaferri ). I know they are uncommon! Let me know if you have one. Thanks.

I haven't seen one come up for sale in a long time. Any idea how many unconverted examples are still out there? I can't imagine there are many.

Would love to know what this one actually sold for

I would think not much less than the asking price of £7500. I saw one on Ebay in the last couple of years for sale for a similar price.

@Jangle_Jamie I'm sure you are correct that there are a lot of them that have been converted. I don't know if Charle notated any of this in his book. Anyone out there with a copy that could shed any light on this?

I know tenor guitars are not necessarily the most popular thing, but I would hope that some would remain as 4-string tenors. As with most things, when there is scarcity, the price is usually higher. But then again, that assumes a certain demand. Either way, I applaud the OP for trying to keep one original.

I’m lucky enough to have a ‘33 tenor, unscathed. The Eddie freeman scale and tuning intrigues me. I’m a tenor banjo and mandolin player who never played a six string,

Because of the dearth of tenor players, even though they are scarce 4 strings generally are priced 40-50% below their six string counterparts

There's a guy locally who has a tenor here in Maine. I should go see it but I don't know, it doesn't interest me a ton.
