Hi all,

Someone over at Steve's UK site was asking for a Billets Doux transcription:

    Hi,

Thanks for posting this, I've been after a copy for a long time.

The only problem I'm having is printing it off - I either get a copy that is too small, and only fills about a third of the page, or else it's too big and doesn't print the the whole image on one page - is it possible to download it as a jpeg, or is there a way to control the print size?

If you're using Firefox, I think you can download it this way:

    Tools
    Page Info
    Media
Scroll through till you find the jpeg
    Save As

I'm sure there are other ways as well...if you can't get it in a few days let me know and I'll email it to you.

    Best,
    Jack.

    Hi Jack,

Thanks for the directions, which I've followed and downloaded the files ok.

However, I still only get a print size of one third of a page of A4. If I try to enlarge the image the print quality is quite poor/blurred.

Presumably I'm still doing something wrong.

With Firefox all I have to do is click on the image itself and a new window (or tab depending on how you've set your browser preferences) appears with the jpeg. If you do it this way, the image comes up at the size you've mentioned, but if you move your mouse over the image a magnifying-glass icon should appear. If you click on that, the image will resize to quite a bit larger. Right-click on this larger image and choose "Save Ïmage as..." it will save this larger image. This image is quite a bit larger than a single page as far as I can tell, but you should be able to scale it back to an A4 page with your printer options.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks Paul,

I've now managed to print off a usable copy, and now all I have to do is manage to play it! Somehow I think that might require a bit more skill and effort on my part.

    Cheers

Great transcription, but I recently discovered that the tune is NOT by Django, but one Maurice Yvain, a longtime French song writer and soundtrack composer and who lived from 1891- 1965.

    Hi

Many thanks for the lead sheet, it's useful to have the unadorned melody to see how Django enhanced it, and thanks again to everyone who has contributed on this topic.

    Enjoy

This is the simple melody as originally written and sung by Simone Judic in the 1920s. So this is before Django's era.
