1949 Selmer Petite Bouche #763

Vintage Selmer guitars have been studied for decades by the best luthiers in the world, but one has yet to create a guitar with the tonal refinement and projection of a vintage one such as this. Only the perfect mix of old world luthiery, select woods, and over seventy years of age can yield the astounding tone and projection that this instrument posses.

This well preserved example from Selmer's later period features all original hardware, a Carpithian spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a solid Brazilian rosewood neck.It's exceedingly rare to find a Selmer in such excellent condition, with all the original hardware intact and in good working order. A proverbial "closet guitar," this example shows few signs of use over its long life. It has five cracks in the top (two emanating from the moustache pieces on either side heading towards the rim, two on either side of the soundhole, and one adjacent to the bass side of the fingerboard. The one by the fingerboard and the one on the treble side of the soundhole were cleated, the others aren't but all appear to be stable.

The sound of this instrument has that wondrous complexity and charm that only 70 plus years of age can bring. The high end is crisp, clear and singing while the mids are tight, controlled, and well defined. It's all topped off with just enough bass response to produce big sounding chords without being overly muddy or dark. It projects beautifully, with volume and clarity few instruments can match.
