1960s Jacques Favino Modele #10

Here is something very special, a Jacques Favino from the 1960s!

The hardware includes the original tailpiece and SB tuners.

The condition of the guitar is excellent, especially considering most Favino's have suffered the proverbial "Gypsy life." It has no cracks or other major damage whatsoever. There is some pickwear on the top and a few small dings and scratches. There is some light fretwear, and a small bit of finish has rubbed off around the player contact points of the side and back.

If you like the classic Favino sound on the early Boulou Ferre recordings like Gypsy Dreams and Pour Django, Bireli's early recordings (Swing '81 and Routes to Django), or Han'sche Weiss/Lulu Reinhardt (Lulu Swing) then this is the guitar for you! This instrument produces that classic Favino tone that is honky, nasal, and full of character. There is a pronounced upper midrange hump that is nicely balanced by the gutsy bass that Favinos are famous for.

The tone of this instrument is simply glorious! The clarity, projection, and tonal balance this guitar produces are qualities found only in mature, well aged vintage instruments. Each note is comprised of an exceptionally strong fundamental, that doesn't suffer from the wild overtone ringing or brashness of newer instruments, which results in exceptionally clear, rounded lead lines and thick, complex chords. This guitar has lived a long and passionate life, with a voice that the tells the story of many long jams at the cafe or around the campfire. Every time you play it, it transports you to another era....

The label for this guitar is missing, so we don't have a precise serial # or production date. However, the features of this guitar conform with Favino's production from the mid to late 1960s.

Favino connoisseurs generally consider his best work to be from the later 60s through the mid-70s, as earlier and later models often have design differences that make them sound and play differently. Here's a chance to own one of these highly coveted models that not only sounds incredible, but is in fantastic condition as well!
